Law No. 6 of 2014 concerning Villages provides opportunities for Villages to build Villages according to their potential by prioritizing community participation. One form of development to strengthen the village economy is through the formation of Village-Owned Enterprises (Bumdes) as a village economic institution in utilizing and utilizing local resources and assets owned by the Village for sustainable development in order to improve welfare. The potential of rural communities is currently the main spotlight by the government to be developed so that local potential continues to be explored so that the village becomes an area capable of contributing to Regional Original Income.
Bumdes is expected to have a strategic role in developing the economy of rural communities and increasing the village's original income or PADes. Meanwhile, obstacles to developing bumdes are communication problems between Bumdes, village government and village communities, as well as issues of transparency and accountability. Just forming and establishing Bumdes is easy, just with the Perdes, but to maintain the continuity of the Bumdes operation, a comprehensive study is needed regarding the mapping of village potentials and the selection of types of business.
